Amazon slashes price of the Fire phone. 32GB model is now 99 cents

Just a day before Apple's event for a new iPhone, Amazon has cut prices of its pet project the Fire phone. The 32GB model is now 99 cents, down from an original price of $199 whereas the 64GB model is now $99, down from $299. The Fire phone was unveiled at an event by Jeff Bezos last June and it went on sale in late July but sales were disappointing. Critics complained the phone being clumsy and difficult to use. Specification wise, the phone lags behind many other phones, namely the use of Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 system on chip, which is one generation behind what most other phone makers use for a 2014 release. Consumers were also uncomfortable with giving Amazon a little too much access to their private information. The Amazon was marketed more of an electronic wallet rather than a phone. On the other hand, the strengths of the Fire phone, such as its 'Dynamic Perspective' function, was not enough to make it stand out in the competition.
