A little over a week after Pebble Technology Corporation unveiled the Pebble Time, the smartwatch maker showcased its Pebble Time Steel at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Pebble Time Steel is nearly identical to the Pebble Time but the steel edition is around 1 millimetre thicker than the former. This allows it to accommodate a larger battery which is evident by the longer on-time of 10 days, 3 days more than the Pebble Time. Other than that, the Pebble Time Steel also comes with a smartstrap system. According to Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky, the system could include a GPS sensor for runners or navigation, a heart rate sensor, an NFC add-on for contactless payment or anything else that a developer can conceive. The Pebble Steel comes in 3 colours, Gunmetal Black, Silver Stainless and Gold. Pebble Technology started in 2011 and first brought up the idea of a smartwatch Pebble to Kickstarter for initial funding in 2012. The campaign helped raised $10 million and Pebble was soon released in 2013. This time around, the Pebble Time has managed to raise over $15 million from around 61000 pledgers so far at the time of writing.
